The region for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace “embraces” Stockholm

Komotini, December 16, 2022 – A particularly important tourism promotion event for the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace was organized on Thursday, December 15 at 18:00 at the “Mykonos Taverna” restaurant in Stockholm, with the aim of presenting the region as a top tourist destination for the whole year. Journalists, tour operators, opinion leaders, influencers and businessmen in the Swedish capital had the opportunity to “travel” to this unchanged region of Greece and get to know its unique attractions, in connection with the Region’s current advertising campaign with the central message “An embrace full of Greece”.

During this extremely warm and successful evening, the guests of honor were informed about the most important characteristics of the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and its inhabitants, about the most important natural and cultural treasures of the region, as well as about the elements that make this destination special: unimaginably beautiful landscapes, a fascinating historical heritage, a unique fusion of religions and traditions, cities full of life alternating with beautiful villages and traditional settlements, aromas, colors but also the delicious gastronomy of a completely authentic Greece were revealed and introduced in a welcoming embrace that captivated those who attended the event.

Among other things, the deputy regional governor for tourism, Athanasios Tsonis, who was in Stockholm, in a speech to representatives of the media and the travel industry expressed his conviction that the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace meets all the conditions to become a top destination throughout the year.

Also actively present at the event were Pavlos Bourbas, head of the Greek Tourism Organization’s office in Scandinavia and the Baltics, as well as the deputy head, Maria Zevgoula. After welcoming the guests, Bourbas underlined the region’s aspiration to become part of the Scandinavian tourism market.

With their presence, the evening was also honored by the trade attaché Pavlos Olziersky, officials from the Greek embassy in Stockholm, Giorgos Kontorinis, municipal councilor in municipality of Solna in Stockholm, and deputy municipal manager in Östersund, Efi Kourlos.

The region’s ongoing campaign in Sweden’s capital is part of a wider strategic planning for tourism based on the campaign “An embrace full of Greece”. What is primarily sought is the formation and promotion of a particularly positive image of Eastern Macedonia and the Thrace Region in the Swedish market, so that the region is included in the first choices both of those who are professionals in tourism, as well as individual travelers.

This glamorous event was musically “dressed” by Zorband, the gifts given to the guests included local products from Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and was offered by the company Mini Ellada AB and Greek Gourmeterie
