Lipsi. According to the myth, Lipsi is the dreamlike stage, where one of the most popular chapters of the Odyssey by Ulysses takes place. Ionian Islands
Corfu (Kerkyra), unlike the rest of Greece, never fell under the Ottoman oppression. Due to the successive dominations of the Venetians, the French and the British over the centuries, the island has primarily become part of the Western rather the Levantine world. Their culture wielded strong influence in the city: it was here that the first Greek University (the Ionian Academy), the first Philharmonic Orchestra and the First School of Fine Arts were founded. In the beautifully preserved Old Town of Corfu, a UNESCO world heritage site, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical “repertoire” came to be successfully applied to local artistic traditions.

Zakynthos, internationally known as “Zante”, is a verdant island endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate. Its landscape diversity has resulted in different types of beaches: there are sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue on the island’s south eastern part; yet, if rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world are to your liking, try the western part of the island. On Zante great care is taken to protect two endangered animal species, namely the Caretta Caretta sea turtle and the Monachus Monachus seal.

Windsurfing in Lefkada. The sea area of Lefkada Island is considered a surfer’s paradise and is a top destination for Greek and foreign surfing athletes. Wind direction and speed gradually shift and rise during the early afternoon hours in Vasiliki beach; the area is a world famous surfing spot, it is included in a top ten list of surfing beaches across the Globe.

Kefalonia: This green island with its breathtaking beaches and crystal clear waters of greenish-blue colours will take your breath away. Kefalonia is a gem in the Ionian Sea. It carries a rich history in cultural tradition. It’s the biggest Ionian Island and the green of its mountains blend with the blue of the water making it truly unique and a beloved destination. Pine, cypress and olive trees cover Mt. Ainos’ peak, while at its foot you’ll come across vineyards where the popular Kefalonian Robola wine variety is produced.

Alonissos: The first underwater museum in Greece!
The Peristera shipwreck was discovered in the early 1990s and will be the first one that the Greek government opens to the public for the summer 2020.The ship, which archaeologists believe was a large Athenian barge carrying amphora’s filled with wine, likely sank toward the end of the fifth century B.C. The wreckage now sits about 30 meters underwater, and historians say it’s the largest ship of its kind discovered under the sea.

Skiathos: The most cosmopolitan island in the Northern Sporades, is truly a paradise on earth, with lush pine forests and crystal-clear azure waters. Despite the rapid growth in tourism here in recent decades, it the island is still picturesque and unspoilt and blessed with more than 60 beautifully clean beaches. The most famous is Koukounariés, which has been declared the third most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean. When you add in its bustling nightlife, it is only natural that the island attracts thousands of young visitors every year!
